dorion: hello, I'm interested in http://pizarroisp.net/arm-dedicated-servers , principally to run a trb node.
diana_coman: hi dorion , it's BingoBoingo and asciilifeform that can help you when they get online
dorion: ty diana_coman
BingoBoingo: Hello dorion
dorion: hello BingoBoingo
dorion: my understanding from reading logs is you have a rk available and 1TB ssd via usb3, which'd be suitable for running trb.
BingoBoingo: The standard drive that comes with the ARM servers isn't big enough to hold the blockchain, but I can hook a larger drive up. asciilifeform does TRB build on the rockchips.
BingoBoingo: The other thing I'm not entirely sure about is whether USB 3.0 offers the disk performance necessary for TRB to keep up with the chain.
dorion: right, seems a bit ambiguous from my reading, but on the optimistic side: http://btcbase.org/log/2018-05-05#1809958
dorion: in any event, I'm willing to give a try and report results.
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: oughta build
BingoBoingo: dorion: Have you registered a GPG key with deedbot yet?
dorion: BingoBoingo not yet, presently waiting for deedbot to come back online.
dorion: I'm willing to do build per http://btcbase.org/log/2019-07-16#1922706 ; I currently have one pressed to asciilifeform_aggressive_pushgetblock.vpatch on x86_64 syncing behind NAT. currently at height ~579.6K.
asciilifeform: notbad
BingoBoingo: Cool, tonight I'll run down to the datacenter and hook up the drive for asciilifeform to image
BingoBoingo: Should be able to have everything ready sometime tomorrow
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: hold off for a short bit, mp did ask slightly earlier
BingoBoingo: Aite
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: btw see if you can unearth where i could source coupla moar rk's
asciilifeform: they seem to have vanished from the usual channels
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Will look
BingoBoingo: Looks like the next payload may have to have some APU2s instead
asciilifeform: apu1 but yea
BingoBoingo: Ah
dorion: http://logs.bvulpes.com/pizarro?d=2019-7-25#474553 << I understand the priority of mp and have registered my key.
mimisbrunnr: Logged on 2019-07-25 22:31 asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: hold off for a short bit, mp did ask slightly earlier
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: I'll head out to the datacenter to position the drive for imaging once the rain lets up a bit
dorion: BingoBoingo thank you, Sir. I'm preparing the deedbot deposit this afternoon. the price will be based on http://btcbase.org/log/2019-07-09#1922133 , correct ? will the 1TB drive carry additional cost ? (not seeing any indication on pizarro.net)
BingoBoingo: dorion: That auction came in well under the outside market rate. Based on the conversation that follows I'm inclined towards using 11,921.40 USD/BTC I found on the local market that day.
BingoBoingo: As far as the disk goes are you looking to keep the Rockchip rented long term?
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: I'll be headed to the basement and hooking the drive up to dulap
dorion: ok, that's generous of you on the price. your call. I intend to rent the Rockchip long term. First priority is to get trb node set up and syncing. Then irc client and mp-wp.
BingoBoingo: cool
dorion: I'm also interested in renting FUCKGOATS there.
BingoBoingo: Cool
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Drive is hooked up, this one is C
asciilifeform: got it, will take 20min or so
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: c, i.e. 161.0.121.196 ?
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Yes
asciilifeform: ok, 5min or so will be ready
BingoBoingo not in the basement. Too much rain to take the terminal down there.
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: ready. don't forget to plug it into the blue usb3.
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: ty
asciilifeform: (in place of the usual boot stick)
asciilifeform: np
dorion: deedbot hasn't responded to the !!deposit pm I sent it ~25 mins ago. Does one need a rating to use ? I understand trinque is owner. I sent him a pm, but he's either afk or not looking at pms.
BingoBoingo: dorion: You now have a rating
dorion: thank you.
BingoBoingo: dorion: Did you want to go for monthly or quarterly billing on the Rockchip?
dorion: BingoBoingo quarterly
BingoBoingo: dorion 0.0028645925 quarterly for a FuckGoat, 0.01 BTC quarterly for the SSD and the SSD is yours after 1 year, and 0.018874256 BTC for the quarter's Rockchip. Brings the total to 0.03173885, sound good?
dorion: BingoBoingo can you clarify the make, model and condition of the SSD ?
dorion: is the 0.01 BTC on the SSD fixed or variable based on the auction rate ?
BingoBoingo: dorion: The 0.01 BTC is based on the book value we have on the price paid for the SSD http://pizarroisp.net/2019/07/09/pizarro-isp-june-2019-report/#selection-13.4415-13.4500 Comes down to ~0.047 BTC/SSD based on exchange rate when they were purchased and costs associated with getting the SSDs into Uruguay
BingoBoingo: It is a samsung 860 evo
BingoBoingo: Purchased last August, never used. Been sitting in a strongbox in the rack cage with other parts.
dorion: website quotes 0.00104167 BTC / month for FG. 0.00104167 * 3 = 0.00312501, correct ?
dorion: ok, understood on SSD.
BingoBoingo: <dorion> website quotes 0.00104167 BTC / month for FG. 0.00104167 * 3 = 0.00312501, correct ? << ty, I was looking for that number
dorion: it's on bottom of rate sheet page.
BingoBoingo: Thank you. So 0.03199927 For 1 quarter of Rockchip with FUCKGOATS and a new Samsung 860 EVO 1TB
dorion: is the quarter's billing cycle based on my start date or the calendar year ?
dorion: e.g. we're 1/3 done with Q3 2019
BingoBoingo: dorion: For simplicity and for the delay in getting you set up, how does August 1st sound.
dorion: August 1st sounds good. mind breaking down the rk price as well; I get (75 * 3 + 50)/11921.4 = 0.023067760
BingoBoingo: You're getting a drive and FUCKGOATS on top of the Rockchip I'm inclined to waive the 50 setup fee.
dorion: number makes more sense then, thank you. agreed to the 0.03199927 BTC.
BingoBoingo: Aite, I'll fire off the invoice and asciilifeform will get you the login credentials once its paid. I'll also go to the cage and plug in that FUCKGOATS tonight, the SSD is already plugged in.
dorion: log in credentials ? or do I send an ssh key ?
BingoBoingo: dorion: For the shared hosting you'd submit an ssh key. For the rockchips you'll get a password from which you can customize the machine. Putting your ssh key on the Rockchip and changing the sshd.conf is one of the first things to do.
dorion: word.
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: log in w/ the default rk and change to random, then can give straight to him.
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: I don't have that
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: 1s
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/QFHZK/?raw=true
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: plox to change to random and pass to subscriber, ty
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: ty, done
BingoBoingo: dorion let me know once you've fired off the !!v string that pays the invoice. Everything is hooked up and looking good
BingoBoingo: dorion: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/S6SNm/?raw=true Here's the key to the RockChip. It'll probaly be a few hours before Trinque gets to missile control and processes Deedbot wallet incoming and outgoing for the day.
BingoBoingo: Re: http://btcbase.org/log/2019-07-29#1925572 It'll be fine if you take care of the invoice around this time tomorrow.
dorion: BingoBoingo got it! will !!v in channel asap.
BingoBoingo: dorion: Thank you
BingoBoingo: And let me know when you've got a blog going so I can start reading
dorion: I sure will.
