mod6: asciilifeform BingoBoingo ben_vulpes: I started in on the August report for Pizarro. I'm through the 3rd step, which means that I've made a draft that includes the filled out part of BTC Incoming/Outgoing and updated all of the customes in the list with their monthly payment information.
mod6: Not a bad start anyway.
mod6: Next I'm going to need that USD Incoming/Outgoing information from BingoBoingo.
mod6: i've got some chores to do here, bbl.
BingoBoingo: Almost got it all done
BingoBoingo: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/2fPm6/?raw=true
mod6: nice, thanks BingoBoingo
mod6: asciilifeform, BingoBoingo : If one of our regulars or clients come in, you can just do: /voice <username>
mod6: You are both +o.
mod6: Once this spam attack stops on fleanoad, i'll take off the extra restrictions so people can speak freely.
BingoBoingo: mod6: Ok
mod6: BingoBoingo: Hi Sir, I'm doing the books... going through the USD Incoming/Outgoing. Question for ya: Is the leftover $64 dollars from the first driver order (5 ssds) or the second drive order (3 ssds)?
mod6: Or is that a combo of both orders?
BingoBoingo: mod6: Second
mod6: Ah, ok, and there was none left over from the first iirc.
mod6: Oh, also, did you only get $2001 on that wire?
mod6: It was supposed to be $2050
mod6: Ok, I've gone through the USD of the incoming/outgoing and I can confirm your Net Change amount.
mod6: We should be starting September with $1703
mod6: Are we still sitting on 44900 UYU?
BingoBoingo: mod6: Wire fees ate 49, the 44900 UYU is in the hands of the rental guarentee agency
BingoBoingo: <mod6> Ah, ok, and there was none left over from the first iirc. << Yeah
mod6: Oooh, ok wire fees. It seems like that was ok though. We ended up +390 so... no worries if we wire the same amount this month correct?
mod6: and thanks for the info on the UYU; got it!
BingoBoingo: Right, we should be good continuing with the wire amount
mod6: *thumbsup*
mod6: ben_vulpes: I have a question as to what to do about the SSD line on the Tangibles table - since we didn't receive them.
mod6: Should I just pull that line off and then make a note under the table that we have a credit open with you to order new drives? And if so, I just need a dollar amount from you as to much USD you're holding for that.
mod6: Ok, I've made it all the way through the Assets table. w00t.
mod6: I did depreciate UY3 this month -- since this is the first full month of use. As opposed to last month which would have amounted to a fractional depreciation... which just didn't make a ton of sense.
mod6: ben_vulpes: I may need some hand-holding on the liabilities table -- but I'll give it a solid attempt probably tomorrow. But we never did get to walk through that one last month.
mod6: Either way, no worries, making good progress here.
mod6: bbs.
mod6: Hai all.
mod6: wb ben_vulpes
mod6: Had to install an over-the-range microwave today... just getting to it here.
mod6: Gonna look at what I can do with that Liabilities table. Whether or not I get anywhere, I'll send you what I've got so far.
mod6: If nothing else, we can work through that one together this week.
mod6: Alright, I'm still kinda struggling with the Customer and Shareholder Equity lines.
mod6: I'm gonna fax those over to ya, and maybe we can go through them together.
mod6: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/50DOj/?raw=true << ben_vulpes asciilifeform BingoBoingo : Here is the report draft - it is missing three things;
mod6: 1) what to enter for a credit amount for the drives that were not delivered; credit held by ben_vulpes.
mod6: 2) the customer equity line in the liabilities table
mod6: 3) the shareholder equity line in the liabilities table
mod6: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/2QgiE/?raw=true << ben_vulpes asciilifeform BingoBoingo : Here is the most up-to-date customer notes file, I have created the August Report draft based upon the information contained herein.
mod6: (I've even put some extra notes in the ledger section to help make it easier for me.. I'll be removing these once we're complete with the report."
BingoBoingo: mod6: ty, will take a look
mod6: s/"/)/
mod6: BingoBoingo: *thumbsup*
mod6: asciilifeform: Let's see if we can get ben_vulpes a make & model number for what he should order for drives with that credit he is holding on to. Figure, let's aim for the end of this week if possible.
mod6: Pizarro Customers: Today is the 3rd of September, and I am currently working on settling a price point for September (since there was no auction at the end of last month). I'm close to getting this completed, and as soon as the price point is established, invoices will go out.
mod6: BingoBoingo is taking over Pizarro management duties as of the 5th of September, and the current plan is for him to be sending your invoices via his deedbot account.
mod6: Congrats to BingoBoingo, btw!
BingoBoingo: Ty, tyvm
mod6: He and I will be working together to ensure a smooth transition.
mod6: Lastly, I want to thank the customers for their paitence with me through these last several months. I appreciate that.
mod6: Again, as soon as I have a price point set, invoices are going out. Will report the update in here as soon as I have it.
mod6: Have a good evening :]
mod6: how's it going today, Pizarro.
mod6: ben_vulpes: were ya able to check out my draft?
mod6: Today is the 5th folks, looks like we're not going to hit our deadline.
BingoBoingo: So far it is going
mod6: Nice :]
mod6: Looks like I'm going to have a price point set by the end of the day.
mod6: I'll advise as soon as I have it.
BingoBoingo: Cool
mod6: BingoBoingo: You can send invoices to the few who need them as soon as I publish the number.
ben_vulpes: i have not mod6, but will today.
mod6: Thank you!
mod6: I can go over those last two tonight with you if you're available, otherwise, just let me know when you are.
mod6: Hi all: We have set a price point for the month of September, that amount is: $6745 USD/BTC
mod6: BingoBoingo will begin sending out invoices within 24 hours.
mod6: I can provide price quotes if you need one between now and then.
ben_vulpes: mod6: haven't made it through all the way, will resume tomorrow am.
mod6: Ok Sir, thank's for looking it over, I appreciate that!
mod6: err, *thanks
mod6: Since I just posted the news re: Wildcat Bonus in #trilema, http://btcbase.org/log/2018-09-06#1848237
mod6: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/5NwZw/?raw=true << BingoBoingo asciilifeform ben_vulpes : Here is the latest customer notes, just updated them. Contains updated news, and price quotes for customers who need invoicing.
mod6: BingoBoingo: be sure to let me know if you have any Q's re the invoicing or the amounts quoted. I'll be around for a bit yet.
BingoBoingo: will do
mod6: *thumbsup*
mod6: mornin'
BingoBoingo: Mornin
ben_vulpes: mod6: usd incoming should read 2064
ben_vulpes: mod6: gonna barf my notes, i collated them just now.
ben_vulpes: "Fiat Assest" -> "Fiat Assets"
ben_vulpes: USD net change -> 389; ending balance -> 1702
ben_vulpes: USD incoming should also recognize the credit for the SSDs that i'm sitting on; which should increase USD incoming to the tune of 1500 USD
ben_vulpes: (identical to the ECu unwind)
ben_vulpes: each item in the tangibles table with a value in monthly depreciation needs the monthly depreciation charge applied to the book value of the asset in question; so for example UY1 needs to have its book value marked down 0.02129452; idem for UY2 the RC Pilot and UY3
ben_vulpes: then you need to update the tangibles table to account for the corrected amount of USD
ben_vulpes: aaand percolate those changes down to the Pizarro Assets table.
ben_vulpes: the cost for the s.mg staging server has a sub-satoshi amount
ben_vulpes: once you've updated tangibles to account for depreciation; calculate the change in customer equity by summing every prepaid customer's monthly bill, and subtract that sum from the shareholder equity liability line
ben_vulpes: at that point, you'll be ready to calculate shareholder equity; which is the difference between assets and all liability accounts except for shareholder equity.
ben_vulpes: slightly upstack, i have a number for the delta in customer equity, but i'll reserve mine to check against what you publish
ben_vulpes: echo -n "num" | sha512sum -> 9c541f36eec40f6b83da2b031a950a23ec0139fcee44f24099409447106812a9c253ed8e50114cc773bf21b0204263e3516ce62845a8a9f7da66efb653ad6b94
ben_vulpes: that's what i turned up digging through your draft statement.
ben_vulpes bbl
mod6: Thanks ben_vulpes, I'll work on that.
mod6: <@ben_vulpes> mod6: usd incoming should read 2064 << herp. i dunno how i did that wonder. fixed.
mod6: <@ben_vulpes> "Fiat Assest" -> "Fiat Assets" << fat finger fixed.
mod6: <@ben_vulpes> USD net change -> 389; ending balance -> 1702 << aha, fixed.
mod6: <@ben_vulpes> USD incoming should also recognize the credit for the SSDs that i'm sitting on; which should increase USD incoming to the tune of 1500 USD << fixed
mod6: <@ben_vulpes> each item in the tangibles table with a value in monthly depreciation needs the monthly depreciation charge applied to the book value of the asset in question; << done
mod6: <@ben_vulpes> then you need to update the tangibles table to account for the corrected amount of USD << done
mod6: <@ben_vulpes> aaand percolate those changes down to the Pizarro Assets table. << done
mod6: <@ben_vulpes> the cost for the s.mg staging server has a sub-satoshi amount << herp, i see that in the customer notes. but not on the report. my guess is i fixed in report. will have to update the notes.
mod6: <@ben_vulpes> echo -n "num" | sha512sum -> 9c541f36eec40f6b83da2b031a950a23ec0139fcee44f24099409447106812a9c253ed8e50114cc773bf21b0204263e3516ce62845a8a9f7da66efb653ad6b94 << I've tried this four different ways tonight here, and comming up different than your hash here.
mod6: To be clear what I'm doing: 0.81357336-(sum of all pre-paid, i.e. accounts with line items that are ~not~ month to month)
mod6: I've tried this both with and without lobbes' rockchip (which is prepaid through October), and two otherways with the a "0" infront of the decimal, and withotu.
mod6: I'm not sure where I'm coming up different here, but I must still be missing something key.
mod6: oooh
mod6: "and subtract that sum from the shareholder equity liability line"
mod6: so it should be:
mod6: 11.81774550 - (sum of all pre-paid) ; correct?
mod6: even so, I'm still not getting the same hash.
mod6: i've taken lobbes' prepaid rockchip, and divided by 3 (since he did quarterly)
mod6: so 0.01102674 was part of the sum of all prepaid. did you have that number in there too?
mod6: Anyway, I probably wont be able to work on this again until saturday :[
mod6: but hopefully we can confirm the numbers that we are using in the sum
mod6: i'll send you my draft
mod6: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/yOyTy/?raw=true << Ok here's my draft, thanks again for the help, Sir! ben_vulpes asciilifeform BingoBoingo
BingoBoingo: And the latest shipment of SSDs has made it in.
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: where does the total stockpile stand , and to whom allocated ? ( iirc s.mg asked for 4 )
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: With these we have S.MG's 4 and 4 more. Later this afternoon I will be diving to do some cabinet organization and an inventory.
mod6: BingoBoingo: Hey, nice!!
mod6: This is weird, I thought that S.MG needed 5 for UY3, or is it just 4?
mod6: I basically 'earmarked' 5 for S.MG, but if we only need 4, that's cool because then Pizarro has 4 spares.
mod6: We have a total of eight now.
mod6: I'd like to turn around and place another order. Bringing up the SSD float pool by 3 more.
mod6: Which would, if the number is 4, bring us up to 7.
mod6: Thoughts?
ben_vulpes: mod6: i won't be able to get at this again until tuesday, my apologies
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Emplacement and powerup done, can't get it to respond to pings. Offers:
BingoBoingo: icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable
BingoBoingo: ... iterate
BingoBoingo: Preparing to surface from the basement. Will be back tomorrow for more organizing and inventory
BingoBoingo: And back at the habitation module
mod6: ben_vulpes: hmm. ok well, if you can before then plz let me know.
mod6: asciilifeform BingoBoingo thanks for working on it.
mod6: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/14BNR/?raw=true << BingoBoingo ben_vulpes asciilifeform here's the updated notes from me today. plz read, thx!
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: when you go back there, plz try the stick from one of the 2 vacant rk's in same unit, and see if pings (will ping, naturally, on the ip of vacant unit, not mod6's)
asciilifeform: if negative, we will know that either 1) boot sd card or 2) the rk itself -- is shot
asciilifeform: mod6: do you happen to recall what you were doing to the thing prior to it going down ?
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Will do. Plan on spending a stretch down there tomorrow
mod6: asciilifeform: it was just simply running apache.
asciilifeform: mod6: i.e. running one minute, dead the next ?
mod6: nope, was unplugged.
mod6: but yes, afaik, everything was fine before
asciilifeform: possibly sad ethernet connector, or similar.
asciilifeform: lessee what BingoBoingo finds there tomorrow
mod6: aight cool, thanks for digging into it.
asciilifeform: theoretically there is no reason to ever pull the ethernet on these
asciilifeform: ( it is not needed for disk work )
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: when you do the swap, power down one of the 2 vacants and put mod6's disk in it, and put its disk in turn into mod6's, then we see who boots.
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Getting ready to head back down
asciilifeform: oh hey
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: i'ma go to tea, brb. ping me when you're there.
BingoBoingo: Will do
asciilifeform: ok back
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: In the basement
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: plz proceed with http://logs.bvulpes.com/pizarro?d=2018-9-8#426008 algo
mimisbrunnr: Logged on 2018-09-08 03:41 asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: when you do the swap, power down one of the 2 vacants and put mod6's disk in it, and put its disk in turn into mod6's, then we see who boots.
asciilifeform: and lemme know the result
asciilifeform: after this, do same experiment , but with the ~sd cards~, and ditto
BingoBoingo: In incredibly frustrating results... neither responds to pings
mod6: huh
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: this is after the 1st (swapped sticks) test ? or both ? which ?
BingoBoingo: This is after stick swapping
BingoBoingo: I am uncertain the SD cards can be swapped with human hands
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: swap'em back and verify that the vacant node pings again
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: you may need to carefully loosen the tray from the rack and actually unscrew the boards from their stakes
BingoBoingo: <asciilifeform> BingoBoingo: swap'em back and verify that the vacant node pings again << It does not
asciilifeform: uh wat
BingoBoingo: My reaction as well
mod6: pretty weird.
BingoBoingo: Do they not like time travel?
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: do the lamps light ? on either
BingoBoingo: Lamps all lit on boards and on the switch
BingoBoingo: By all appearances they are lit exactly like the others
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: which are these, 'D' and 'E' ?
BingoBoingo: A and B
asciilifeform: confirmed, dun ping
mod6: which makes sense 'cause mine was B, and A was douchebag's iirc.
BingoBoingo: Power cycle again and pray?
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: 1st, yes
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: after this, gotta find a usb ttl snake and see what comes out of the console uart
asciilifeform: i'ma do it here on my desk with my example and post photo for you, brb
mod6: thanks for working on this guys
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: you will need the little red cp2104 uart that knows how to do 1500000 baud, that i left for you
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: can you find it ?
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: http://www.loper-os.org/pub/rk_uart_a.jpg , http://www.loper-os.org/pub/rk_uart_b.jpg
asciilifeform: stty -F /dev/ttyUSB0 1500000
asciilifeform: screen /dev/ttyUSB0 1500000
asciilifeform: http://wiki.t-firefly.com/ROC-RK3328-CC/debug.html has example with other type of ttl
BingoBoingo: Aite, I am going to have to run and grab the other toolbag
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: pretty sure i left the red uart for you
asciilifeform: lemme know asap if you cant find
asciilifeform: ( it may be in the bilge )
BingoBoingo: I suspect it is in the apartment, digging through the bilge now.
asciilifeform: mod6: we really gotta get some spare rk down there.
BingoBoingo: brb
asciilifeform: http://btcbase.org/log/2018-06-06#1821081 << it's a ftdi, not c2104 , sorry
asciilifeform: but same pinout iirc
mod6: asciilifeform: yeah, totally agree. i want to discuss moar rockchips, and more 1U servers.
mod6: UY3 is a 1U right?
asciilifeform: mod6: errything is 1u currently
asciilifeform: iirc
mod6: *nod*, thought so.
mod6: but anyway, yeah, would love to get 8-12 more 1U's similar to UY3, and however many more rockchips.
mod6: what are your thoughts on how many we should try to get for a next trip? 6/12/24 ?
asciilifeform: mod6: i was speaking of asap spares for current plant
asciilifeform: rather than the next trip
mod6: ah, alright. are they something we can order from shitazon just like the ssds?
asciilifeform: they all came from there to begin with
mod6: cool. how many spares should we aquire?
mod6: 6?
asciilifeform: would be good start
mod6: ok nice. if you through me an exact model number, I'll add that to the list for this month.
mod6: we also wanna do another order of 3 SSDs to bring our total spares (not ear-marked for UY3) up to 7. Does that sound good to you?
asciilifeform: hmm, shitazon nao only sells the 4GB ram version, costs 2x
asciilifeform: will have to find where to get the classic one
mod6: alright, maybe that's ok though.
asciilifeform: 80bux ea
asciilifeform: + the heatsink ( which they dun come with )
asciilifeform: ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0792VXBVH )
asciilifeform: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078RMQYHS << 4GB box
mod6: alright, thx for the link
asciilifeform: the old one has entirely evaporated from shitazon , loox like
mod6: and we ~don't~ want the 4Gb one linked above right?
asciilifeform: we do, but not for 2x cost
asciilifeform: imho
mod6: so the older 4Gb ones you found were ~40?
asciilifeform: 2g
mod6: ok 2Gb, got it.
asciilifeform: and they were ~55.
mod6: ah, ok. yeah, if we can save some $ it's worth looking for the original 2Gb ones.
asciilifeform: https://www.loverpi.com/collections/libre-computer-project/products/libre-computer-board-roc-rk3328-cc << the orig
asciilifeform: nao 35
asciilifeform: or hm nm
asciilifeform: 50 for 2gb ver.
asciilifeform: i do not know if this vendor will ship to BingoBoingostan tho
mod6: right.
mod6: hmm.
BingoBoingo still looking for uart
BingoBoingo: There's a blue guy who goes USB to RS-232 connected to another cable who goes to RJ-45
asciilifeform: waiwat
asciilifeform: canhaz photo ?
BingoBoingo: In a minute
BingoBoingo: imgur.com/gallery/TUwj3SN
asciilifeform: oh not it at all
asciilifeform: this is for kvm
BingoBoingo: There's also a whole bunch of FG USB ttyls
asciilifeform: also not it
asciilifeform: mod6: feel free to take up residence on the remaining vacant rk, until we solve the riddle
mod6: I'm not opposed to that, I'm also in no giantic rush.
mod6: I'm gonna let you guys work through this over the weekend, and if it still isn't figured out, then come Monday, I'll take one of the others.
mod6: this has to be some sort of fluke
asciilifeform: it is concerning, as it raises q re the reliability of rk board
asciilifeform: but i cannot do anything from here, BingoBoingo is my eyes and ears
asciilifeform bbl,meat
BingoBoingo: Going to withdraw from the bilge, tear apart the apartment, and see if I can source a uart locally
mod6: Thanks BingoBoingo, I appreciate it.
BingoBoingo: Is this the guy I am looking for? https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.uy/MLU-446909871-modulo-usb-a-ttl-5v-y-33v-ftdi-programador-arduino-_JM
BingoBoingo: Vendor appears to have some other single board computer stuff as well, appears be be in Country (albeit far)
BingoBoingo: Brb, walking to find an open Abitab to pay for the thing I just ordered off the internet
mod6: np
BingoBoingo: And Hopefully it should arrive this upcoming week.
BingoBoingo: On the plus side the bilge is much tidier now
mod6: alright, good deal.
BingoBoingo: The vendor lists a bunch of similar stuff. Will be interesting to see if it is made in Brasil, assembled in Brasil, or brought via suitcase from Brasil
mod6: *nod*
BingoBoingo: Aite, the uart is in the hands of a domestic Uruguayo shipping service, should be here tomorrow
mod6: Nice, thanks BingoBoingo
mod6: In other news, Pizarro is looking to purchase some fiat to those who want to buy some BTC.
mod6: You can make an auction if you want, or you can just reach out to me directly. We can do WU or bankwire.
mod6: Thanks!
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform mod6: I now have in hand a FTDI FT232RL and a mini-USB cable.
BingoBoingo: This particular piece of kit has a jumper for setting 5 volt and 3.3 volt modes
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: that was veryveryfast
BingoBoingo: Which one am I going to want when I head down to grab uart
asciilifeform: dun do it yet, let's wait until either later tonight, or tomorrow morn, when i have 2 free hands
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: There's a vendor in the far corner of the country with a bunch of Arduino shit and apparently intra Uruguay devliveries don't suck
asciilifeform: nifty
BingoBoingo: I was planning on heading down sometime this evening
BingoBoingo: The mini-USB cable was harder to find than the uart
jurov: Good morning, just a random thought: have you tried talking the DC into accepting bitcoins?
diana_coman: good morning; I can't seem to be able to connect to my rockchip anymore: http (ossasepia.com) gives 403 You don't have permission to access / on this server ; ssh refuses connection too; there was NO change as far as I know - I haven't touched it in quite a while and last time I connected everything worked fine; any idea what might be wrong there, BingoBoingo ?
diana_coman: as far as I can tell from here it looks like sshd is not running on my rockchip or something, rather weird
diana_coman: I might mention that ping works so the iron is up but something is messed up; the only hypothesis I have atm is that it perhaps reset ??
asciilifeform: diana_coman: i've never in 20 yrs witnessed ssdh spontaneously falling down.
asciilifeform: *sshd
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: plox to ping asciilifeform as soon as you wake up, gotta find out wtf
diana_coman: asciilifeform, pretty much no idea here, totally wtf
asciilifeform: we're gonna get to the bottom of the rockchip thing today.
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: when you wake up :
asciilifeform: 1 ) ftdi board jumper set to 3.3v
asciilifeform: 2 ) usb cord into dulap
asciilifeform: 3) http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/4tHkN/?raw=true << connection diagram.
asciilifeform: ping asciilifeform when this is plugged in, when we find out wtf gives re diana_coman's box ( strangest failure , so imho oughta do it 1st, unless mod6, who's been waiting for a while, objects. mod6 ? )
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: i'ma need resets, so this process will need BingoBoingo's dextrous hands on site
diana_coman: hm, as a wild idea: some IP mess up could explain this wonder I guess? i.e. I'm trying to connect to the IP of my rockchip afaik but if meanwhile it's not that of my rockchip...
asciilifeform: possib
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: seems like 'A', 'B', ~and~ 'C' no longer ping
BingoBoingo: <asciilifeform> BingoBoingo: plox to ping asciilifeform as soon as you wake up, gotta find out wtf << Awake
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: see log.
asciilifeform: we have 3 unpingable rk, and on top of this diana_coman's is behaving strangely.
BingoBoingo: Aite, checking the kit and heading over
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: take the entire cable sausage
asciilifeform: ( the 1st item that i successfully mailed )
BingoBoingo: Aite
asciilifeform brb, tea
mod6: hmm
mod6: Thanks for working on the problems asciilifeform & BingoBoingo
mod6: jurov: I'm not sure if anyone has previously asked them if they accept BTC. ben_vulpes BingoBoingo ?
mod6: ben_vulpes: Can we work on wrapping up the August report tonight?
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: In the cage
asciilifeform: back
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: lemme know when you've connected the wires
asciilifeform: diana_coman is unit 'E' ? BingoBoingo does this match your record ?
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: plox to also address q in #t
asciilifeform: might be pertinent to subj
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: alive?
BingoBoingo: Alive, had to grab forcepts
asciilifeform: ah ok
BingoBoingo: And you are now connected to E
asciilifeform: now plox to cycle its 5v
asciilifeform: actually 1s
asciilifeform: (if you already did, will need again, on my signal)
BingoBoingo: Aite, awaiting signal
asciilifeform: ok now power up
BingoBoingo: powering up
asciilifeform: i see no output
asciilifeform: didja connect the pins as described in the paste ?
BingoBoingo: I did
BingoBoingo: AH, flipped rx and tx
asciilifeform: yank from usb too for 1s
asciilifeform: and put back.
asciilifeform: ( it wedged )
asciilifeform: ok now power the rk
BingoBoingo: And powered up
asciilifeform: i still see nuffin
asciilifeform: try 1nce again
BingoBoingo: And powered up
asciilifeform: still 0
asciilifeform: try it with your lappy:
asciilifeform: 1) plug in the usb
asciilifeform: 2) stty -F /dev/ttyUSB0 1500000 raw
asciilifeform: 3) cat /dev/ttyUSB0
asciilifeform: 4) power
asciilifeform: make sure jumper set to 3.3v
asciilifeform: and doublecheck the connections on both ends
asciilifeform: i have the exact same setup on my desk, where it worx
asciilifeform: you gotta be root for the stty
asciilifeform: ( and the cat, most likely )
BingoBoingo: jumper at 3.3v
asciilifeform: ok...
BingoBoingo: and I am not seeing anything either
asciilifeform: canhaz photo of wiring ?
asciilifeform: on both end
BingoBoingo: Aite, taking photos
asciilifeform: http://www.loper-os.org/pub/rkuart.jpg
asciilifeform: ^ mine
BingoBoingo: http://aaronrogier.net/uart1.JPG http://aaronrogier.net/uart2.JPG
asciilifeform: can't see shit in the 2nd
asciilifeform: and pretty sure you're plugged into 'F'
asciilifeform: not 'E'
asciilifeform: ( iirc 'F' is yours ! )
asciilifeform: go ahead & leave it like this, and toggle yer own box
asciilifeform: and swap the rx/tx pair until you get an output on boot
BingoBoingo: have scroll
asciilifeform: ?
BingoBoingo: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/qK5g9/?raw=true
asciilifeform: ok whose is this
BingoBoingo: E
asciilifeform: loox like dead sd !
asciilifeform: does it cycle like that 4evah ?
BingoBoingo: Well this is the first time the ethernet blinkenlights are off
asciilifeform: plug the usb into dulap again plz
asciilifeform: and say when, i'ma dump from it, will give signal to cycle 5v
BingoBoingo: As an intermediate step power cycled without usb attached, ethernet blinkenlights were restored
BingoBoingo: Plugged into dulap, awaiting signal
asciilifeform: now
asciilifeform: hm it boots
asciilifeform: but !
asciilifeform: kernel panic
asciilifeform: [ 3.029198] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] tag#0 UNKNOWN(0x2003) Result: hostbyte=0x01 driverbyte=0x00

asciilifeform: bad stick
asciilifeform: cycle it again plox
asciilifeform: ( saving the output )
BingoBoingo: power off, awaiting signal
asciilifeform: now
BingoBoingo: power on
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: is this a box with FG ?
BingoBoingo: It is
asciilifeform: yank the FG
asciilifeform: then powerdown it
asciilifeform: then say, and i'ma say when
BingoBoingo: FG yanked, power off, awaiting orders
asciilifeform: now
BingoBoingo: powering up
asciilifeform: yep bad stick
asciilifeform: either that or diana_coman rebuilt kernel with no xhci
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: power down that box for nao
asciilifeform: and let's do 'A', 'B', 'C'.
asciilifeform: hey mod6 , which one were you ?
BingoBoingo: He was B
mod6: yeah, B
mod6: (sorry, was behind a few lines)
BingoBoingo: Move the uart?
asciilifeform: plz
asciilifeform: let's start with 'A'
asciilifeform: and go from there
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: dun forget to re-emplace diana's FG
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: plox to give signal when 'A' ready to fire
BingoBoingo: A powered down, uart attached
asciilifeform: fire.
BingoBoingo: powering on
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: do you have the spare usb sticks there ?
BingoBoingo: We have 2, just put eyes on both of them
asciilifeform: ok power down 'A'
asciilifeform: insert one of the virgins
asciilifeform: and say when ready to fire
BingoBoingo: Power off, virgin in
asciilifeform: fire
BingoBoingo: powering up
asciilifeform: ok confirmed, 2nd dead stick
asciilifeform: put back orig, put virgin in pocket, move probe to 'B'
asciilifeform: say when ready to fire
asciilifeform: (with 'B' orig stick)
BingoBoingo: ready to fire
asciilifeform: fire.
BingoBoingo: powering on
asciilifeform: powerdown and give signal, for take2
BingoBoingo: power down
asciilifeform: fire
BingoBoingo: power on
asciilifeform: ok confirmed dead stick
asciilifeform: let's do 'C' nao
asciilifeform: say when ready
BingoBoingo: Aite, this one's going to be a bit of finessing the hands. Good time for you to potty break if you need it
asciilifeform: ok
asciilifeform: meanwhile:
asciilifeform: plz put stick of 'B' into dulap
asciilifeform: and leave it there for nao
asciilifeform: give signal when 'C' ready plz.
asciilifeform: btw BingoBoingo ?
asciilifeform: still there ?
BingoBoingo: uart attached, drive moved, C powered down
asciilifeform: there is an issue with usb3 disks, where if you dun push'em in all the way, they behave exactly like this
asciilifeform: give usb stick of 'C' a good push until definitely can move no longer
asciilifeform: and then say ready
asciilifeform: also make sure it is in the blue jack
asciilifeform: ( they all must be)
asciilifeform: it's the one with no 2nd jack above it
BingoBoingo: In the blue jack, feels secure leaned on drive with bodyweight for 5 sec
BingoBoingo: ready
asciilifeform: ok fire
BingoBoingo: powering on
asciilifeform: i see no output, i suspect you misconnected the uart ?
asciilifeform: ( now seems to be unplugged from dulap also ? )
BingoBoingo: Plugged back in, ready for take 2
asciilifeform: fire
BingoBoingo: powering on
asciilifeform: i still see nuffin
asciilifeform: lights on ?
BingoBoingo: lights on
asciilifeform: plzz doublecheck the uart wiring
asciilifeform: cuz i see 0
BingoBoingo: checking
BingoBoingo: Powered down ready to fire again
asciilifeform: unplug from dulap & plug back in
asciilifeform: ( the usb )
BingoBoingo: usb unplugged and replugged
asciilifeform: fire
BingoBoingo: powering on
asciilifeform: still nuffin
asciilifeform: try it nao with your lappy, and swap the pairs until you see output
asciilifeform: meanwhile remove 'E' stick, blow gently in it, and push in with force, then power up 'E'
asciilifeform: while you fiddle with 'C', we can see if it boots
asciilifeform: ( via ping )
BingoBoingo: Aite
asciilifeform: say when
BingoBoingo: E plugged in, still fiddling with C uart
asciilifeform: no sign of life from 'E'
BingoBoingo: Normal blinkenlights
asciilifeform: i still suspect that the stick did not go in all the say, to make mine fully insert i have to grab the entire board with hand and push with thumb
asciilifeform: *all the way
asciilifeform: try same operation with 'A' and say when , i'll ping it
asciilifeform: the interesting fact is that the stick from 'B' seems to read fine in dulap
asciilifeform: ( it's about 15% tested nao, will finish in 3h or so )
asciilifeform: so i'm currently working with 'usb3 bad contact' hypothesis
BingoBoingo: A rebooting
asciilifeform: the 1 thing all of the sad boxen have in common, BingoBoingo , is that they were all recently fiddled
asciilifeform: afaik
asciilifeform: still no output from 'C' ?
BingoBoingo: Well, diana_coman's was the exception
BingoBoingo: Still no output from c
asciilifeform: 'C' has fg ?
BingoBoingo: C does not
asciilifeform: tried rx/tx both ways on C ?
BingoBoingo: indeed
asciilifeform: ok for the moment let's switch to A
BingoBoingo: verified pin position on board
asciilifeform: see what comes out of it
asciilifeform: btw BingoBoingo , you gotta do the stty erry time you plug usb into lappy
asciilifeform: did you ?
BingoBoingo: I am doing so
asciilifeform: ok now see if you can get uart out from A
BingoBoingo: recieved uart from A, A powered down and plugged into dulap awaiting instrusctions to fire
asciilifeform: fire
BingoBoingo: powering on
asciilifeform: power down
asciilifeform: try again to reseat the stick
BingoBoingo: power down
asciilifeform: ( do you have freon can ? )

BingoBoingo: A reseated, off awaiting instructions
asciilifeform: fire
BingoBoingo: firing
asciilifeform: same result
asciilifeform: try booting it with stick in one of the usb2 ports
asciilifeform: say when ready
BingoBoingo: Ready
asciilifeform: fire
BingoBoingo: powering up
asciilifeform: it boots and pings
asciilifeform: confirmed sad usb3 jack
asciilifeform: now gotta determine the reason
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: plox meanwhile to bring up 'E' in same way
asciilifeform: i suspect will have to clean the stick contacts and the port with qtip & ethanol
asciilifeform: btw BingoBoingo in 10min or so i'ma have to attend to a ~half-hour meat chore
asciilifeform: will be afk
BingoBoingo: Aite E powering up
asciilifeform: also how the hell does -194 'B' ping ? its disk is in dulap..
asciilifeform: oh nm
asciilifeform: 194 - A , 195 - B , 196 - C
BingoBoingo: AHA
BingoBoingo: Aite, going to look for cleaning supplies
asciilifeform: before you do :
asciilifeform: plz put uart on 'E'
asciilifeform: say when ready
BingoBoingo: Prepping E
BingoBoingo: Uart on E
asciilifeform: fire
BingoBoingo: firing
asciilifeform: something VERY strange
BingoBoingo: ?
asciilifeform: it boots fine, and starts sshd
asciilifeform: but doesn't answer to connect
asciilifeform: ok go get freon & qtips and &etoh
asciilifeform: i'ma bbl in 20-30m.
asciilifeform: back
asciilifeform: lemme know when yer back plz
mod6: Thank you gentlemen!
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: back
asciilifeform: ohai BingoBoingo
asciilifeform: 1st clue : all the boxen where drive was replugged into usb2, seem to run
asciilifeform: without eggogs
asciilifeform: ( i am currently logged into 'A' )
BingoBoingo: Freon dusters appear to be a white people thing they do not have. Acquired ETOH, q tips, and compressed xylene contact cleaner
asciilifeform: 2nd clue : drive from 'B' is 42% read in dulap, with 0 eggogs so far
BingoBoingo: Ah
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: before you do any cleaning, i want to revert to april kernel on 'A' and see if somehow this explains the usb3 strange
asciilifeform: await signal to reset
BingoBoingo: waiting signal
asciilifeform: 1s
asciilifeform: oh 1st plox to move uart to 'A'
asciilifeform: ( say when; i can currently reset it myself )
BingoBoingo: Connected
asciilifeform: ok now 1) remove its 5v 2) move its stick to blue usb3 3) connect 5v
BingoBoingo: drive moved
BingoBoingo: 5v on
BingoBoingo: we have blinkenlights
asciilifeform: ok ruled out the august kernel
asciilifeform: (same result)
asciilifeform: let's begin next step,
asciilifeform: disconnect 'A' and clean 1) its contacts 2) those of stick
asciilifeform: make sure contacts dry before reconnect
asciilifeform: use as much force as can be mustered when pushing stick back in
asciilifeform: ( you can use the black pins that come with uart as size no-go gauge -- they should ~not~ fit in the gap b/w the white 'samsung' faceplace of the stick, and the jack face
asciilifeform: )
BingoBoingo: Nothing came off USB stick, some brown came off of A
asciilifeform: ok
asciilifeform: contacts dry ?
BingoBoingo: Not quite yet
asciilifeform: ok lemme know when
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: i would also like to eliminate the power supply as a culprit
asciilifeform: do you have a microusb cord long enuff to reach rk 'A' from your lappy ?
BingoBoingo: I do, lemme dig it out
asciilifeform: 1st we see if contact cleaning did it
asciilifeform: then this
asciilifeform: you can use one of those huge blowers in there to blow dry the thing..
BingoBoingo: appears dry
BingoBoingo: black pin does not fit between socket and faceplate
BingoBoingo: Ready to power on when signaled
asciilifeform: 1s
asciilifeform: ok let's do it
BingoBoingo: powering up
asciilifeform: ok same thing
asciilifeform: now let's power it from lappy
asciilifeform: lemme know when ready
BingoBoingo: ready
asciilifeform: fire
BingoBoingo: powering up
asciilifeform: cycle it again plz
BingoBoingo: cycled
asciilifeform: now it gets stuck right prior to mounting the stick
asciilifeform: possible notenuff amps
asciilifeform: try powering it from dulap
BingoBoingo: Dulap does not have sufficient usb ports to power
asciilifeform: ok use your box
asciilifeform: ( racked box )
BingoBoingo: Aite
asciilifeform: ok now spins same as prev
asciilifeform: now boot it up with stick in usb2
BingoBoingo: aite
asciilifeform: now boots..
asciilifeform: now take stick from 'C' and emplace into its usb3
BingoBoingo: aite
asciilifeform: interesting
asciilifeform: it dun go
asciilifeform: now try same with virgin stick
BingoBoingo: passes the black pin test, has not been powercycled
asciilifeform: dun powercycle
asciilifeform: just swap the usb3 stick
BingoBoingo: virgen in
asciilifeform: hah this one mounts
asciilifeform: this is pretty interesting
asciilifeform: seems like the back contacts on these ( or somehow else ? ) rot away ?
BingoBoingo: <asciilifeform> this is pretty interesting << ANd horrifying
asciilifeform: loox like we gotta switch brands
BingoBoingo: <asciilifeform> seems like the back contacts on these ( or somehow else ? ) rot away ? << Could the back contacts be the brown I wiped out of A's socket?
asciilifeform: nope
asciilifeform: or i could not mount the virgin
asciilifeform: it runs as valid usb3 stick
BingoBoingo: Nah, the old drive's contacts
asciilifeform: potentially yes
BingoBoingo: The apparently gangrenous ones
asciilifeform: they run rather hot, so it is possible
asciilifeform: could have even desoldered internally
asciilifeform: anyway this is the last time we're using plastic-chassis sticks
asciilifeform: let's proceed with the obvious next step
asciilifeform: we rescue mod6 and diana_coman's contents onto virgins
asciilifeform: then when this is done, we power up their units
asciilifeform: and i'ma proceed to looking for new sticks
BingoBoingo: Aite, how do you want them positioned
asciilifeform: 1s
asciilifeform: ok let's begin with mod6's
asciilifeform: take out dulap's 'B' stick and replace into 'B'
asciilifeform: then insert mod6's 'C' into dulap instead and give ready signal
asciilifeform: can yank uart from dulap, we no longer need it atm
BingoBoingo: mod6 is the B stick in dulap
asciilifeform: now insert virgin into 2nd hole on dulap.
asciilifeform: this dun look right
asciilifeform: mod6 is 'C' neh
BingoBoingo: mod6 is B
asciilifeform: hm then who was 'C'
BingoBoingo: vacant, formerly mats
asciilifeform: ok
asciilifeform: 1s
asciilifeform: didja put in the virgin ?
BingoBoingo: not yet confirming which sticks you want where. B in B or B in Dulap
asciilifeform: B in dulap
asciilifeform: + virgin in dulap
asciilifeform: plox
asciilifeform: we gotta give mod6 a new disk
asciilifeform: and then ditto for diana_coman
BingoBoingo: Both have been placed
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: mark the virgin with words 'B-new'
BingoBoingo: I already marked them
asciilifeform: ok this will take about 1.5hrs
asciilifeform: after this we do diana_coman
BingoBoingo: Aite, will surface for some air
asciilifeform: ty for the sweat BingoBoingo
BingoBoingo: Not much sweating in the cool aisle
BingoBoingo: Most of the sweat was in discovering freon dusters don't exist here. Prolly for pantsuit treefucker reasons
asciilifeform: dunworry.
asciilifeform: go get some air, food.
asciilifeform: try to come back in 1.5-2h.
diana_coman: thank you BingoBoingo , asciilifeform
asciilifeform: my apologies to diana_coman and mod6 , who suffered for the cause of pilot plant.
asciilifeform: and to BingoBoingo , who spent good chunk of a day in the bilge.
mod6: no worries! Thanks for the heroics today to get down to the cause of the issue.
mod6: :]
asciilifeform: i won't call the case closed until errybody's back in biznis, but seems like we pegged it.
asciilifeform: this means mod6 in about 1.5hrs, and diana_coman about 1.5hr after that.
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: eta on the deflowering time to completion?
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: loox like 'ddrescue' undershot the time
asciilifeform: needs another 2h.
asciilifeform: but !
asciilifeform: meanwhile can you boot up rk 'a' ( with its native stick in usb2 ) ?
asciilifeform: so i can set up diana_coman in parallel
asciilifeform: lemme know when ready, i'ma say in which order the other 2 sticks go in (virgin & diana_coman )
asciilifeform: i'ma brb in 10min, teatime
BingoBoingo: Aite, I'll head back over there
asciilifeform: ty
BingoBoingo: Aite, back in the cage
BingoBoingo: A has the virgin in the USB 3 slot and A's ssd in the top usb 2.0 slot
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: A is presently powered down
asciilifeform: plz power on
BingoBoingo: A is powering up
BingoBoingo: Are you ready for diana_coman's ssd to be inserted
asciilifeform: i can't seem to ping it
asciilifeform: rk A
asciilifeform: dafuq
asciilifeform: plz boot the thing up with just its native stick in usb2 slot
asciilifeform: and say when ready
BingoBoingo: removed virgin, cycling power
asciilifeform: ok, now virgin into usb3
BingoBoingo: virgin n usb 3
asciilifeform: ok now diana_coman into usb2
BingoBoingo: diana_coman in usb 2
asciilifeform: i'ma try & do this one filewise, rather than bitwise, see if faster.
BingoBoingo: Aite, safe to surface?
asciilifeform: 1s
BingoBoingo: standing by
asciilifeform: ok to emerge
asciilifeform: but i will ask BingoBoingo to come back once more before bed
asciilifeform: so as we can move the drives into their homes
BingoBoingo: That is the plan. brb, food
asciilifeform: enjoy
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: diana_coman's is ready; mod6's will be in ~30min
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: meanwhile small short-term research item for you : see if you can get some extra airflow into the rk tray using something you can easily buy locally
asciilifeform: what i'd do, is to get a cpu fan from that shop, and solder its 5v to a cut up usb cord gnd/5v
asciilifeform: and doublesided 3m tape such that it blows horizontally across rkshelf.
asciilifeform: this should not be necessary in the long term, but may help to extend the life of the sad drives until we get replacements.
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: ty, getting ready to dive again
asciilifeform: 19m on the clock
asciilifeform: ty BingoBoingo
BingoBoingo: <asciilifeform> BingoBoingo: meanwhile small short-term research item for you : see if you can get some extra airflow into the rk tray using something you can easily buy locally << I'll be headed over to that part of town this week to pay rent anyway can't hurt to look
asciilifeform: cool
asciilifeform: i definitely saw fans there
asciilifeform: just gotta make sure they're 5v
BingoBoingo: I finally found a 5v transformer that doesn't piss of touchscreens and hasn't melted anything yet
asciilifeform: nice
BingoBoingo: brb, en camino
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Back at the cage
asciilifeform: literally 1m left on mod6
asciilifeform: let's start with diana_coman
asciilifeform: at your pleasure pull diana_coman's new disk and insert into 'E' usb3
asciilifeform: ( also make sure errybody who had FG, has it again )
BingoBoingo: Powering up E
asciilifeform: it pings !
asciilifeform: now let's do mod6
BingoBoingo: Ping confirmed
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Is the drive ready to be moved?
asciilifeform: yes
asciilifeform: fire at will
asciilifeform: don't remove mod6's ~old~ disk from dulap
asciilifeform: (loox like you pulled it)
asciilifeform: at the end of the day i want'em both in dulap
asciilifeform: when mod6 and diana_coman give green light, i'ma zero the old sticks and ask BingoBoingo to mail'em to me for the saw
BingoBoingo: B is powered up
asciilifeform: pings
BingoBoingo: Aite, old disks going in dulap
asciilifeform: now let's do 1 moar thing
asciilifeform: see if you can get 'C' to come up with its stick in usb2
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: C powered on
asciilifeform: it pings
asciilifeform: so apparently same thing as the others
asciilifeform: as soon as mod6 gets a chance to comment re the proposed replacement, we'll order stix
BingoBoingo: Sounds like a plan.
asciilifeform: ty for the a+++ work, BingoBoingo
asciilifeform: nao go and get some well-deserved sleep
mod6: It all sounds good to me.
mod6: BingoBoingo: if you can order the new sticks from shitazon, just give me a price quote, will send ya the btc for those.
asciilifeform: let's sleep on it
mod6: Alright. Fair enough.
asciilifeform: we oughta get stick-on 1cm^2 hedgehogs for'em too
asciilifeform: ( about fiddycents ea. iirc )
mod6: While we're at it though, quote me for another 3 SSDs and I'll get ya coins for that order too.
asciilifeform: 1st thing when i wake up
mod6: asciilifeform: ok np.
mod6: thanks to you both for your hard work today to get to the bottom of all of this, much appreciated!
asciilifeform rather drained, but prolly not half as much as BingoBoingo
mod6: *nod* yeah, that was a lot of stuff to be sure.
BingoBoingo: Aite: hedgehogs, usb sticks (8), and big boy SSD's (3) is the tentative shopping list
mod6: sounds great. thanks Sir.
asciilifeform: i picture 4 1cm^2 hogs per stick, 2 on ea. side
mod6: weird, i got some kernel messages in my UY1 terminal
asciilifeform: paste ?
asciilifeform: ( i am not logged into uy1 )
mod6: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/xCjWM/?raw=true
asciilifeform: loox like stray gamma
asciilifeform: sorta why asciilifeform demands ecc ram stix.
mod6: ah
asciilifeform: what's uy1 again
asciilifeform: i thought it was the shared box
mod6: that's the shared environment
asciilifeform: why 'euloraserver' then
mod6: not sure, was a question i had too
asciilifeform: at any rate, i'd worry if these appear daily
asciilifeform: as it is i get'em here, erry other month or so
mod6: alright, i'll holler if i see 'em again.
asciilifeform: ty
mod6: Are the root passwords the same, etc?
asciilifeform: i did not change'em
mod6: ok. hmm. lol
asciilifeform: actually
asciilifeform: iirc i did reset somebody's
asciilifeform: and i think it was yours mod6
asciilifeform: lemme gpg to you
mod6: ok chief
mod6: Just need to set the clock and do a reboot after that, and i'll be g2g.
asciilifeform: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/IOWZw/?raw=true
asciilifeform: plox to test
mod6: thanks, on it.
mod6: got it, and I'm in. thanks for the additional info, will correct
asciilifeform: np
ben_vulpes: mod6: the only difference between our tallies of customer equity charges is that BingoBoingo's account is missing from your tally.
ben_vulpes: i was basing the charge line for lobbes off the monthly bill line for him in your notes; i see that you marked it as a different number 0.01322028 for august, but i don't quite understand the logic there.
ben_vulpes: other than that, real close
ben_vulpes: down to less than bitcents i think
mod6: Hi ben_vulpes
mod6: http://logs.bvulpes.com/pizarro?d=2018-9-12#425678 << I think 'pre-paid' is part of the issue for me here.
mimisbrunnr: Logged on 2018-09-06 23:37 ben_vulpes: once you've updated tangibles to account for depreciation; calculate the change in customer equity by summing every prepaid customer's monthly bill, and subtract that sum from the shareholder equity liability line
mod6: Let me go through why I skipped BingoBoingo and had a "different" number for lobbes.
mod6: So for BingoBoingo, he had previously been on a quarterly rockchip plan, but for August, he was month-to-month. So I skipped over his as it wasn't really a 'pre-pay', in my mind.
mod6: Next months report, he should be back to a 'pre-paid' as he did sign-up for another quarter of rockchippen
mod6: (fwiw)
mod6: Any way, if I'm wrong about this line of thinking, please set me straight.
mod6: I'll dig through the lobbes thing here for a sec and explain myself.
mod6: Ok, so here it is, lobbes' rockchip is quarterly, which comes out to 0.01102674 BTC per month. This to me qualifes as 'pre-paid'. However, the Hosted Shell Plus he has been doing since August is month-to-month and imho does not qualify as a 'pre-paid'.
mod6: So I left the Hosted Shell Plus amount off.
mod6: Again, if this line of thinking is incorrect, please set me straight. Many thanks!
mod6: Oh, i see your confusion too -- as I marked that amount for August (for lobbes) as the total sum of the Monthly Rockchippen rate + his month-to-month Hosted Shell Plus.. which totaled:
mod6: 0.01322028 BTC
ben_vulpes: ah i see the thing with BingoBoingo
ben_vulpes: would be useful in this process to break out what's prepaid vs what's month-to-month explicitly so it doesn't live in your head
mod6: Yeah, point taken.
mod6: The notes could have different sections for each.
mod6: I'll see to that.
mod6: Thoughts on lobbes?
ben_vulpes: seems like you have it right; the prepaid bit is prepaid and the month-to-month part is not.
ben_vulpes: i've yet to retally but i will later this afternoon
mod6: alright cool. let me tally up too, and see what numbers we come up with based upon your assertion above.
mod6: http://logs.bvulpes.com/pizarro?d=2018-9-13#427269 << ben_vulpes BingoBoingo this one probably got lost in yesterdays noise; any thoughts?
mimisbrunnr: Logged on 2018-09-11 14:54 mod6: jurov: I'm not sure if anyone has previously asked them if they accept BTC. ben_vulpes BingoBoingo ?
BingoBoingo: mod6: I haven't outright asked yet, but they did chuckle back during the set things up meeting when I mentioned it as a possibility.
mod6: Alright.
mod6: something something incas will be incas
mod6: ben_vulpes: Here's what I tabulated for customer equity today after we chatted last http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/xZLZW/?raw=true
mod6: Basically yields me the same number. Since you seem to agree with what I've got, I'm gonna use those and move on to the shareholder equity line.
mod6: (let me know if you come up with a different tabulated number, etc, ofc.)
mod6: oh wait. now that I've re-opend the draft report... I'm pretty positive I was using the shareholder number not the correct previous customer equity number.
ben_vulpes: yeah customer equity is like .8 btc
ben_vulpes: not eleven or whatever
mod6: herp. but I think the sum of the pre-paid is correct.
mod6: right, lemme re-calc. sorry for the confusion.
ben_vulpes: what's the final number for lobbes prepaid bit?
mod6 looks
ben_vulpes: 0.01102674?
mod6: yes, exactly
ben_vulpes: okay i've got a match
mod6: so you're getting the 0.10432248 BTC net change then?
mod6: actually, that's a -0.10432248 i think
mod6: 0.81357336 - 0.10432248 = 0.70925088
mod6: ^ second number netchange? third number is month ending number?
ben_vulpes: ding ding ding
mod6: ok outstanding
mod6: now just for that shareholder part
ben_vulpes: yup
mod6: Alright, i got it
ben_vulpes: pretty easy calc
ben_vulpes: mod6: gotta bail, but i'll bbl
mod6: end of month for Aug shareholder equity is: 12.02427688
mod6: alright,
mod6: and netchange:
mod6: +0.20653138
ben_vulpes: seems like a bit of a historical outlier
ben_vulpes will check later
mod6: cool, thanks again Sir
mod6: looks like the last few months previous we were net positive change in shareholder equity.
mod6: same with august.
mod6: cool.
mod6: Alright and the totals are complete.
mod6: I'm gonna fax these over to you guys, and ben_vulpes if you green light this draft, we can begin to get this thing posted.
mod6: I appreciate all the help!
mod6: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/jbl4r/?raw=true << ben_vulpes asciilifeform BingoBoingo
mod6: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/yWEWP/?raw=true << ben_vulpes asciilifeform BingoBoingo : Latest customer notes from mod6.
BingoBoingo reads
ben_vulpes: i take it back, that net change is right in line with at least last month's
ben_vulpes: mod6: i would add a totals line at the bottom of the assets table
ben_vulpes: mod6: if i sum assets, and subtract all liabilities except for shareholder equity from that number i get 11.75256396, not 12.02427688
ben_vulpes: so we still gotta get to the right number on sh.eq
mod6: <@ben_vulpes> mod6: i would add a totals line at the bottom of the assets table << ok
mod6: <@ben_vulpes> mod6: if i sum assets, and subtract all liabilities except for shareholder equity from that number i get 11.75256396, not 12.02427688 << ok, lemme see where i may have messed up here.
mod6: aha: 11.75256396 << i get this too, no idea how i screwed that up, but I'm gonna try to retrace my steps.
mod6: so then:
mod6: 11.81774550 - 11.75256396 = -0.06518154 (netchange)
mod6: Ok my previous error was because I somehow used the sum of the assets from the -beginning- of august.
mod6: not sure why I would have done that, but yeah, that doesn't make sense.
mod6: maybe was just tired o.O
mod6: Alright, I'm finished with the changes.
mod6: I'm gonna gpg-gram you a copy of what I have here. And I'm also just gonna wotpaste you a copy of the assets & liabilites table so you can view quick if you need to do so.
mod6: Would be great to have confirmation on the changes asap.

asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: i meant rk-a and -c 's power hub ports, rather than the boxen themselves, can unplug'em entirely for nao

mod6: does anyone remember if ben_vulpes had a guide on how to html-ify the report?
ben_vulpes: i exported from an emacs thing to HTML, mod6.
mod6: ah hai
mod6: oooh.
ben_vulpes: perhaps in this case it would be sensible to attach the report as a link from the post instead of further burning time on visual candy like html; unless there's a quick way for you to do it.
mod6: yikes. you wanna shoot me out one quick then? or is there just a simple thing I can do on my end without having to build emacs or whatever?
mod6: yeah, that'd be fine.
ben_vulpes: i'll run your report through the chipper, but there's no guarantee that org-mode will eat it

mod6: Ok, I published the report
mod6: http://pizarroisp.net/2018/09/
mod6: however, the numbers in the tables are not all the same font size, which im gonna try to fix somehow
mod6: ok nevermind, I think my browser was just being dumb
mod6: asciilifeform BingoBoingo ben_vulpes do you three see a "1500" amount in the USD Incoming/Outgoing table above ^
mod6: Looks like somehow that number got dropped out of the table -- but it's in my draft.
mod6: weird
mod6: I think I need to update it here...
mod6: The total amount is correct: 3564
mod6: OOOH
mod6: no this is bad, all of the spacing and columns are off.
ben_vulpes: yeah this does not appear to have worked
ben_vulpes: sorry mod6
mod6: no worries.
ben_vulpes: i would fall back to the text attachment, it's probably The Right Thing anyways.
mod6: ben_vulpes: where should the raw document exist?
mod6: can it just land in the filesystem somewhere?
ben_vulpes: if you upload it as an "attachment" in wordpressdom everything should Just Work
ben_vulpes: i think file uploads are working
mod6: huh ok
BingoBoingo: What about pasting the plaintext statement into the entry using pre tags?
mod6: I can try that..
mod6: ok thats 17`000 times better
mod6: reload when you get a chance.
mod6: LOL
mod6: does anyone else see the glaring easter egg on the mainpage?
mod6: Alright, and I don't know how to fix it either...
mod6: Our name is spelled wrong in that black image. And our name is spelled wrong in the browser tabs. Not sure where I can edit that HTML.
mod6: Does seem to be in the "Home" post as that is below the section in black.
BingoBoingo: AH, I'll fix it
mod6: Cheers BingoBoingo
mod6: from now on, i'm using the <pre></pre> tags on this mother too.
BingoBoingo: fixed
mod6: nice work!
mod6: All: Pizarro needs to purchase some fiat, so if you're interested let us know. $500 minimum please. Let us know if interested.

mod6: PeterL: try now
PeterL: hi there
BingoBoingo: Como andas?
PeterL: no sprechen di espangnola
BingoBoingo: Está bien. How can we help you today?
PeterL: I was thinking about getting a blog set up, but it looks like you raised the minimum price since I looked at the website last.
PeterL: I will be back in a bit
BingoBoingo: We've been doing some cleaning. Originally shared hosting was 0.003 and then it went to tiers. There was never any plan to enforce tiers aside from the honor system so this month we decided to flatten the structure.
PeterL: I did notice that you left the "plus" in the name, even though there is not a "non-plus" plan?
mod6: We could change the name, since now there is only one. Fair point.
BingoBoingo: Well the old non-plus ran 0.0015 and offered 5GB of space. If you can fit into 5GB of space I can bounce reviving it off the board.
mod6: I'd be ok with just dropping "Plus" of the name if we all agree. But for now, I think we should just stick with the one plan, as we all decided last month.
mod6: It's got everything ya want, nothing else that you don't.
mod6: mornin'

mod6: I'd like to extend a hearty "Thank You and Job Well Done" to BingoBoingo on his first full month as acting Manager!
adlai assumed previously that his own fiat is no good (re http://btcbase.org/log/2018-09-28#1855384 ) but is able to help with some of this.
mod6: hi adlai
adlai: hello mod6
asciilifeform: mod6: got it
mod6: I do not object to adlai selling Pizarro some fiat, and actually might do some well needed repair to the man's wot.
mod6: Thoughts asciilifeform ?
mod6: BingoBoingo: ?
asciilifeform: mod6: i can do it, but not for 100%, or for 100% but no more than 1ce per quarter or so
asciilifeform: we need some other folx.
adlai checks how much he has available if this is currently relevant
mod6: Thanks adlai
mod6: asciilifeform: That's be very nice, but I'd like to spread it around a bit if we can. If other persons are still willing to sell fiat, then asciilifeform wouldn't have to do the whole thing.
mod6: asciilifeform: keep in mind, we still have about 10 days until we MUST have the money ready to be wired. The 20th is the payment deadline, and there is approximately a 5 day wire-transmitting/clearing period.
mod6: So I like to get everything settled by the 10th to buy a bit of padding.
mod6: Make sense?
asciilifeform: mod6: aha makes sense
mod6: So, hang in there, we all very much appreciate it. And you might be our saving grace this month just yet.
adlai can do the minimum as per http://logs.bvulpes.com/pizarro?d=2018-9-28#430821
asciilifeform: mod6: we really need a permanent solution, imho
mod6: adlai: I'm inclined to take the offer, and we appreciate it. I'm gonna let BingoBoingo weigh in here too when he returns. So just hang tight and we'll let you know. If it's all good with everyone, we'll move forward from there.
mod6: asciilifeform: yah, we certainly do. Did you like the suggestion that I had in the notes/
mod6: s/\//?/
asciilifeform: i didn't see anything resembling a longterm pill in there, other than the auction thing, which afaik isn't ready yet
mod6: right, but there was another.
asciilifeform rereads..
asciilifeform: 4th para ? lessee what BingoBoingo says re subj.
mod6: Aha.
BingoBoingo working on Spanish homework atm. Going to address some points quickly.
BingoBoingo: My understanding is that in the past we have been doing fiat sales in a way that has been exposing our friends to fx risk and left them with a bit of burning the past couple months. I am inclined to suggest we find a way to insulate our trusted friends from that risk first and make this more appealing for them.
BingoBoingo: I further have reservations about exposing our fiat side to risk by letting involving a known hallucinogen afficianado physically located in Israel involve that country's financial system in a transaction over a "minimum" contribution. I like sleeping well at night. The small chance of getting honeytrapped into a fake "international drug conspiracy" over 500 USD does not seem worth the risk.
mod6: Ah, alright. Was not aware of this.
BingoBoingo: The though makes my WoT gland ache.
mod6: adlai: We're going to delcine your offer for sale of fiat at this time. However, on a personal note, I appreciate the offer.
BingoBoingo: The Cody Wilson thing is way too fresh
adlai: aha
adlai: the financial system thanks you for the negative blockspace!
