ben_vulpes: allll right BingoBoingo you heard the man http://logs.bvulpes.com/trilema?d=2018-3-14#314378 cuntoo is out for now, going to have to walk backwards from 6 to 4 on our own. this is not actually so arduous, and i will provide you with some manual steps.
mimisbrunnr: Logged on 2018-03-14 03:15 trinque: at any rate, this needs a longer look. we don't need to be going "oh upstream broke us" again in a month. meanwhile I don't want to hold anyone up setting up a pizarro box.
shinohai: http://btcbase.org/log/2018-03-14#1787786 <<< This part sounds interesting, since none of my boxxen have musl gentoo. I built recent one for personal use so I could stand up a working machine to play Eulora on or build trb things quickly without fuss.
shinohai: But still following along.
ben_vulpes: actually BingoBoingo put this http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/RJsI7/?raw=true pubkey in the livedvd's /home/gentoo/.ssh/authorized keys along with your own, run /etc/init.d/sshd start, bind to 247, ensure that you can ssh in from the basement, head up to cowork, ensure that you can still ssh in and then ping me
mats: mod6 just idling for now
mod6_: Cool
mod6: mornin' all
BingoBoingo: ben_vulpes: Will do
BingoBoingo: mornin
BingoBoingo: Aite, baking the new Squashfs is taking a while
BingoBoingo: Just about done baking the image
BingoBoingo: So I copied and unpacked the livedvd squashfs, put in the ssh keys, baked a new squashfs, went to put the new squashfs on the drive and... write only file system
asciilifeform: write?!
BingoBoingo: Sorry, read only
BingoBoingo: the usb drive is not wanting the new image.squashfs written to it.
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: which usb drive ? describe plox the entire experimental setup
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: ben_vulpes left in my care a USB drive with a gentoo LiveDVD set up on it. Orders are to put two SSH pubkeys in the /.ssh/authorized_keys file on the LiveDVD. Aim is to put a gentoo on the server while minimizing the time the cabinet is open and unlocked with the crash cart plugged in.
ben_vulpes: you could also pull them from the net once the machine is booted from the usb
BingoBoingo: Aite
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: generally speaking you can't overwrite a stick that you booted from
asciilifeform: ( or rather, you can, but will end up with rubbish )
BingoBoingo: Nothing is booted from it yet.
asciilifeform: when and how was it mounted ?
asciilifeform: ( if you mount a squashfs, it ALWAYS mounts readonly, it does not support writing )
asciilifeform: if you want a squashfs with something particular in it, you have to generate it separately, and write as image
asciilifeform: see also https://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/SquashFS-HOWTO/whatis.html
asciilifeform: and in particular https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/SquashFS
mod6: i got that FC 1Gb/1Gb. wewt.
