mod6: nice work gents
BingoBoingo: ty
mod6: asciilifeform BingoBoingo : qq, did diana_coman or anyone else switch around which RockChips they are using in the plant?
BingoBoingo: mod6: They are in the same locations
mod6: Currently, our notes indicate that A and C are open. But iirc, I thought that maybe I saw some chatter that one or both of these is now occupied.
BingoBoingo: A and C are open and have the new SSDs
mod6: Ok, so no one moved from one slot to another. Got it.
mod6: Great, thanks for the quick info BingoBoingo
asciilifeform: mod6: afaik the rk's have not moved from their pedestals since installed.
asciilifeform: mod6: errybody's getting new ssd's tho. vacant 'A' and 'C' did, and so did lobbes and diana_coman ; mod6 and BingoBoingo remain .
mod6: Thanks asciilifeform, I must have just mis-remembered that.
mod6: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/B4n4m/?raw=true << BingoBoingo asciilifeform ben_vulpes : updated notes file, please review when you have a moment.
mod6: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/h4cVH/?raw=true << BingoBoingo asciilifeform ben_vulpes : Here's what I had started on for the september report, my notes/comments are inline. I only hand this over to give BingoBoingo a bit of a head-start as he is going to take the report off my plate and work through this on his own.
mod6: Ok I gotta tap out for just a bit here, will be back in a bit.
BingoBoingo: jurov: Thank you, the wire has been recieved
mod6: hey, nice!
mod6: thanks jurov
asciilifeform: ty jurov
jurov: interesting, so quickly
billymg: hello, coming over here from #trilema to ask about hosting
billymg: i think i am interested in the rockchip mini server quarterly
asciilifeform: billymg: mod6 will help you when he gets back
mod6: Hi billymg, how can I help?
billymg: mod6: hi, just interested in taking a rockchip for a spin
mod6: $100 USD/mo, month to month, $75 USD/mo if you sign up for a quarter at a time.
billymg: would like to try for a quarter then
mod6: Ok cool! We'll get ya set up and invoiced. BingoBoingo is our manager, he'll be giving you the details.
asciilifeform: mod6: plox to invoice him at the latest rate, http://btcbase.org/log/2018-10-10#1860078
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: I will be sending out invoices this afternoon
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: if you invoice the new fella nao, i can get him gpg'd login right off.
asciilifeform: (when paid)
billymg: i still have this strange sense of paranoia that the moment i release the btc to pizarro my keycard at work stops working and my building moves to evict
billymg: but i suppose only one way to find out
mod6: use your deedbot wallet.
mod6: You'll be invoiced to that as it is anyway.
mod6: http://deedbot.org/help.html
billymg: ah, very cool
BingoBoingo: billymg: If you have to move to Montevideo, the locals kind of suck but the beach is nice
mod6: Gentlemen, also please help billy if he needs help setting his time clock.
asciilifeform: mod6: i will.
mod6: A+
billymg: BingoBoingo: emigration is on my mind for sure
asciilifeform: it's standard unix clock, btw, date -s "currenttimefromlocalbox" worx
billymg: still wondering if texas is far enough...
BingoBoingo: Learning spanish isn't bad
billymg: i'm working on that too!
billymg: mod6: thank you, funds en route to wallet
asciilifeform: billymg: soon as you fill the invoice, i'll gpg login to you.
asciilifeform: billymg: i recommend to do the command in #t , when your tx clears.
billymg: asciilifeform: will do
mod6: billymg: yw, congrats!
trinque: only use texas as a launchpad billymg
trinque: it's still in occupied territory unfortunately
trinque: upgrade from californistan, but that's not saying much.
billymg: nyc at the moment, but that's kind of how i was thinking of it
billymg: saw that a few lords seemed to be happy there so wondered if maybe if that was because it could be viable long term
billymg: is there a number of confirms necessary for a wallet deposit?
billymg: i'm seeing 2 now but still a 0 balance
asciilifeform: billymg: trinque processes deposits manually, so may take entire day
billymg: ah, ok!
trinque: meat in, meat out, on the wallet, aha
billymg: still fairly new to gentoo, will i want to emerge --sync right away?
billymg: or are there perhaps any notes posted anywhere about the gentoo configuration that comes with the rockchip that i could start with?
billymg: the reason i ask about emerge --sync is because i don't want to run without the proper portage config and inadvertently pull in any unsanitary deps
billymg: sorry for the noob questions. will gladly accept a "search the logs/read the manual" response if these are things i should know
trinque: "what deps should I use" isn't something reducible to a ritual. you're going to have to learn about what's on your system and make informed decisions.
billymg: will do some more reading, thank you
trinque: (just wait til he realizes that "linux system best practices" is an undecidable problem)
billymg: i am aware of this, but also aware of own knowledge and for this reason would sooner trust e.g. trinque's config than billymg's config
BingoBoingo: billymg: This link describes the Gentoo on the Rockchip http://www.loper-os.org/?p=2295
BingoBoingo: And this link has quite a bit of sample terminal scroll and results of my poking around on it http://bingology.net/2018/05/28/learning-portage-together-building-php-5-6-on-arm64-rockchip-gentoo/
billymg: BingoBoingo: ahh, ty
BingoBoingo: No, thank you
BingoBoingo: ATTN mod6 asciilifeform ben_vulpes Pizarro notes update http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/QihbF/?raw=true
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: got it
BingoBoingo: ty asciilifeform
jurov: BingoBoingo: does the DC enable setting reverse DNS record? Not anything urgent, it would improve receiving/sending email for ml.
jurov: If they do, please point 161.0.121.248 to: mx1.therealbitcoin.org.
jurov: It's strictly optional (to borrow from alf).
BingoBoingo: jurov: I will look into it.
lobbes: there it is
